Gareth Pugh ACCA Affiliate

Gareth Pugh registered with Walker Dendle as a part qualified in 2006 and, after a series of interviews in a buoyant market, was successfully placed with one of our principal clients. Three years later he faced redundancy and, having kept in regular contact with his consultant; it was the natural step to re-register with us again.

This time round it was a very different climate with the UK in the grips of recession and work would be difficult to find even for someone of Gareth’s calibre. We spent time agreeing the ideal step up given his qualification and experience, but also managed Gareth’s expectations about the market. Gareth saw this as an opportunity to progress, but he also had financial commitments and it became clear that the main priority should be to stay in work.

Walker Dendle worked hard to secure a suitable six month contract role with a local business which was also prepared to sponsor outstanding exams. It was accepted that this was a sideways move in terms responsibility, but Gareth proved such an asset the client extended his contract giving Walker Dendle ample time to scout the market for a  suitable permanent position. Nine months later Gareth resigned to take up a fantastic permanent position through Walker Dendle as management accountant with a global management consultancy and has since become an affiliate ACCA.
