Job Description

The Role

Reporting to Head of Commercial Finance, this is an excellent chance for a qualified/nearly qualified (or equivalent) accountant to move into a business-facing role with the opportunity to partner a critial areas of a PE backed business, leading the development of MI reporting and data analytics to support and drive commercial decisions. The successful applicant will be responsible for partnering key operational stakeholders to influence decision-making through reporting, analysis and financial modelling to drive commercial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities to maximise profitability, assimilate and interpret data to inform commercial decision making & devise business cases to support and advise on commercial opportunities
  • Accountable for producing and improving budgets, forecasts and monthly management accounts
  • Responsible for the provision and analysis of data with regard to sales forecasting and cost analysis
  • Will work with business unit Director and numerous other Heads of Department to establish reporting opportunities and improvements; scoping, designing and taking responsibility for delivering automated reports that inform stakeholders and drive profit
  • Lead the development of forecast models in TM1 and improve trend and lead indicator analytics to highlight issues to senior management
  • Provide financial support as required for ongoing and ad hoc projects; e.g., modelling value of potential deals, developing methodologies for assessing marketing effectiveness and profitability, and sizing opportunities for maximising market share
  • Support the Head of Commercial Finance to provide analysis and insight to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Manage and assist the development of the Senior Finance Analyst
  • Act as the finance manager for a number (7-8) of internal departments (responsbile for full P&L; month end reporting, tracking costs, raising POs etc.)
  • Develop & own complex MI dashboards & reports

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified - or equivalent
  • Advanced Excel
  • Knowledge of Finance Systems – TM1 a distinct advantage
  • Excellent understanding of database structures & development methodologies
  • Excellent financial modelling skills and business case development ability
  • Knowledge of Power BI an advantage
  • Confident communicator - previous evidence of, or a clear demonstration of ability, to engage, manage and challenge, senior & non-finance stakeholders
  • Suited to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
