Job Description

The Role

  • The purpose of the role is to provide timely, accurate & insightful financial analysis as a basis for driving business Region and satisfying Group management reporting requirements.
  • The role will take lead accountability in delivering high-quality reporting for all regular performance & forecast exercises. In doing so it will liaise with country & group teams to develop a clear understanding of the management numbers, sometimes reporting insights directly to senior stakeholders, sometimes providing inputs for the FP&A Manager or FP&A FD who are the 2 principal stakeholders for the role.
  • Other key stakeholders for this role are the Regional Director and HR Director, Group FP&A team and the country FP&A teams. In all cases the development of a strong working relationship based on excellent communication and independent challenge is seen as essential.
  • As the key contact for reporting the role requires the incumbent to have a sufficient financial accounting and technical software knowledge to facilitate resolution of issues as they arise without being an expert in these areas.
  • The role will provide an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of a dynamic FP&A environment, being part of the conversation in a Region worth +€1bn turnover and contributing strongly to the setting and delivery of growth targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the weekly, monthly and budget submissions performing critical analysis and discussing directly with the country finance teams resolving issues as they arise. Summarise and present findings to FD/ FP&A Manager.
  • Writing insightful commentary for monthly performance packs to be used by FP&A Manager, RFD, RGM, Group Exec. Team, Shareholders for business awareness and decision-making
  • Build complex 5 year corporate plan models, identifying Group requirements and using knowledge of individual business units and present first iterations to senior finance team.
  • Become an expert in HFM / SmartView and Excel modelling to develop insightful analysis
  • Building a relationship with the central operations teams to help understand KPI metrics (VAP’s attachment, productivity measures etc) to enable the regional team to drive performance
  • Provide support to country transformation business cases and help track benefits   
  • Build in depth knowledge of key drivers per country BU, provide initial challenge to countries and summarise and present findings to GM and FD
  • Using available data to identify issues which could have a significant impact on business performance. 
  • Other ad-hoc tasks including support on regional acquisitions

The Successful Applicant

  • CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified accountant
  • Experience of working in large, complex international businesses 
  • Group FP&A experience working in multi-national, multi-currency Groups
  • Highly developed Financial Modelling skills
  • HFM systems experience desirable
  • High level of financial & accounting acumen
  • Commercially minded and able to focus on the areas which really matter when assessing the Group’s financial performance (both actual and projected)
  • IT literate with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proactive self-starter who is data output driven and can deliver to tight deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to challenge/question commercial assumptions in an effective way
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment 
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to gather information from disparate sources to identify trends/gaps and build alternative solutions to business challenges
